Nothing much else is known of this glorious old photograph showing fans getting into Highbury in the thirties.

It was a decade of unprecedented (and unfollowed) success for the Arsenal club, which won the English League Division One title five times: 1930/31, 1932/33, 1933/34, 1934/35 and 1937/38.

They were the second club in history, after Huddersfield Town, to win three consecutive titles in 1933, 1934 and 1935, the first two under their great former manager Herbert Chapman who died of pneumonia aged 55, before the third title was secured.

Chapman also presided over two of Huddersfield’s trio of First Division championship wins in the twenties...
